Five ways to get great looking logos designed for your domains.

Creating a visually pleasing way to view a domain name can make all the difference. When it’s done right it helps a potential buyer envision their idea, brand, product or service and really see the potential of your domain name. Ever since we made it possible to upload logos to your Efty For-Sale landing pages and more recently, your marketplace, we have been asked the same question over and over: where can I get nice logos created for my domain names?

So without further ado, we give you 5 ways to get great looking and affordable logos designed for your domain names:

1 – Do it yourself (free) – this might be the most obvious of the five but let’s face it, not many of us have the skills or talent to design good looking logos. But for those that do (or think they do) have that creative spark there’s only one ultimate tool out there. Adobe Illustrator remains the kingpin of graphic design software, and for good reason. It packs a punch with a host of features that give you control over every aspect of your logo design. Some free alternatives for those that don’t like to pay are GIMP, Affinity Designer, and Inkscape.

2 – Logo Makers (free)– There’s a large number of desktop and web-based software tools out there that allow you to create logos all by yourself without the need to understand complicated graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop. My favorite web-based logo maker is Designapp.io. Once you figure out how it works it takes around 5 minutes to create pretty decent looking logos such as the once I made for StartTalent.com, MovingUp.com or ResumeHero.com. Best of all, it’s 100% free. A very similar, free, web-based logo maker can be found at Logomakr.com. There are also a couple of desktop logo makers that you can download such as Laughinbird and Summitsoft but they are not free and logos created with these tools often remind me of badly designed PowerPoint slides from the nineties.

3 – Gig-Economy (cheap)–  If you lack the creativity or time to create your own logos then simply get someone else to do it for you. There’s a ton of marketplaces where you can get professional logos designed starting at just $5. The most well known of them is Fiverr. My favorite designer on there is this guy who helped me design logos for JetInsider.com and Celebsy.com. There’s a ton of other great designers on there. Just make sure you choose one with a good number of positive reviews. Similar sites to Fiverr are Upwork and Freelancer.com

4 – NamePros (affordable) – Yep, head over to domain name forum NamePros.com and tap into the talented and creative community that hangs out in either the Design Contest or Developers and Designers for hire forums. Daniel Levi from ShiningStar.com had all his logos done via NamePros and they look great.

5 – Go Pro (lavish)– Have a bit of budget and are looking for a top-notch logo design? Consider holding a contest at 99designs. There’s an incredibly talented community of designers over at 99designs and we have had great results with them working on several Efty projects and I also used them personally to get a new logo for my blog, DNgeek designed. The minimum price for a logo design contest is $250 so my advice is to only use them for a logo for your marketplace or your very best domain names.
