Today, I am again chatting with Richard from MagnumDomains who previously reported the sale of ETH.CO for $300,000 via Efty. This Behind The Sale post is a little different as Richard likes things to be “less about me as an individual and more about .CO”
What is the domain name that you’ve sold?
I sold HAE.CO in May of 2021.
How much did you pay for the domain and how much did it sell for?
I held for HAE.CO for 11 years. I was the original buyer and bought it during the grandfathering period meaning I pre-register it back in July 2010 for $25. The domain name sold for $30,000 after a negotiation.
Can you share how the negotiations for this domain name went down?
I received an opening offer via my Efty For-Sale landing page for $1,234 dollars. I decided to educate my buyer by sharing a recent DNJournal.com sales report that include two similar .CO domain names of mine that sold two weeks earlier. TPF.co and AHS.co each for $20,000 each. I told him HAE.CO is a better domain name because it is pronounceable and therefor my asking price was $30,000.
He agreed on the spot to buy it for $30,000 with one condition: that when I go to Munich, Germany we will have a beer together. The transaction was closed via Escrow.com.
